Wallenstam has signed an agreement on the acquisition of land for future new production in Framtidens Stora Sköndal close to Drevviken in southern Stockholm. The seller is Stora Sköndals Framtidsutveckling AB, which is owned by Stiftelsen Stora Sköndal (The Stora Sköndal Foundation). Through this acquisition, Wallenstam will be able to create about 400 rental apartments in the area.

Apart from the approximately 400 rental apartments, Wallenstam will also construct a nursery school and LSS housing (residential care) and a so-called “M-building”, a multifunctional building with apartments in combination with rooms for meetings, the environment and mobility.

In the Stora Sköndal area, a new district is taking shape with a clear focus on sustainability, where inclusion, variation and environmental awareness are watchwords. With a strong focus on social sustainability, Stora Sköndal should be able to continue to be a place for everyone.

“We are very happy about the opportunity to participate in the design of the new district. We share the Stora Sköndal Foundation’s clear vision for the development of the area towards becoming a new sustainable district,” says Mathias Aronsson, Regional Director Stockholm and Uppsala and Vice CEO of Wallenstam.

The entire Framtidens Stora Sköndal program area comprises a total of approximately 4,500 apartments with related public services. Wallenstam’s land acquisitions relate to three blocks, which are all within the current phase of the zoning plan for the development of Stora Sköndal. The zoning plan work is in progress through active cooperation among construction companies, Stora Sköndals Framtidsutveckling and the City of Stockholm.

“We are proud and happy about the agreement with Wallenstam, which has extensive experience of urban development as well as building and long-term management of rental apartments. To be able to collaborate on the M-building, a very special and new type of multifunctional building, is something I am really looking forward to,” says Tomas Krywult, CEO/Property Director of Stora Sköndals Framtidsutveckling.

The acquisition relates to parts of the existing property Stockholm Sköndal 1:8. On the date of taking possession, these parts will constitute three properties that Wallenstam will acquire through three company transactions, for an agreed property value of about SEK 220 million in total. The taking of possession is conditional on the new zoning plan and property formation gaining legal force.
