Early this year, Wallenstam’s property at Östra Hamngatan 23-27 was certified at gold level according to the Environmental Building In-Use (Miljöbyggnad iDrift) rating system. In addition to this, Kv. Väven in Mölnlycke and Kompositören in Uppsala, two newly constructed properties, have been certified according to Miljöbyggnad Silver rating. Meanwhile, a number of projects to improve energy efficiency are underway in existing properties in both regions.

Updating of technical equipment, replacement of windows and installation of solar cells are some of the measures to improve energy efficiency that are both in progress and planned in a large number of Wallenstam’s properties. These investments are both positive for the climate and at the same time will help to reduce operating expenses. At present, Wallenstam is carrying out about 40 reconstruction projects with energy improvement measures in focus.

“The fact that we could certify another property at gold level according to Environmental Building In-Use was a really amazing performance. The entire organization is working intensively with measures to improve energy efficiency in our properties. This is work that is based on our climate targets,” says Karin Mizgalski, Sustainability Manager at Wallenstam.

The property, which also includes Handelsbanken’s fine office on Östra Hamngatan which has now been environmentally certified at gold level, was acquired last year. Efforts to improve energy efficiency are also underway here which will give the property an even better energy classification. Environmental Building In-Use specifically is based on five areas, internal environment, health, climate impact, resources and condition, which in turn includes 14 indicators.
