In Kallebäcks Terrasser, a new nursery school is now taking shape with a cedar-clad façade and a look that has drawn inspiration from the trees of the forest. The nursery school will be operated by Fridaskolan, which in fall 2023 will welcome 120 new nursery school children aged from 0 – 5 years old, to the area.

We are very happy to welcome Fridaskolan nursery school to Kallebäcks Terrasser. It will be a nice addition to the attractive area which is gradually taking shape here,” says Marina Fritsche, Regional Director Gothenburg and Vice CEO of Wallenstam.

The nursery school will be almost 1,300 square meters in size and is being constructed according to Miljöbyggnad silver standard. The design draws inspiration from the trees of the forest where the symbolism of the tree trunks is discernible in the style of the cedar-clad façade. Together with larger glass partitions with low parapets, children will have close contact with the outdoor environment and nature.

“We are very much looking forward to starting the nursery school in Kallebäcks Terrasser and to be able to provide a nursery school environment where the everyday life of the students is not just characterized by a really good learning environment, but also by trust, security and social openness. It will provide a nice sense of completeness in the area with both the school and nursery school opening next year,” says Marie Karlsson, Principal at Fridaskolan Kallebäck.

The nursery school’s yard is being built for outdoor play in different zones. A wild zone which will provide the opportunity for play in existing nature and terrain. A safe zone close to the building and staff, places for cultivation, water play, sand play and role-playing. There will also be an extensive high-speed zone where children can be stimulated motorically.

Fridaskolan is a staff-owned private school that has been in existence for almost 30 years. The first Fridaskolan opened in 1993 in Vänersborg. Since then the school has grown using its own resources and is today established in Vänersborg, Trollhättan, Uddevalla, Mölnlycke, Gothenburg and Helsingborg.

The construction of Kallebäcks Terrasser started in 2019. So far, 435 new residential tenants, Nordic Wellness, Bico and Cellink have moved into and established in the area. When fully developed, the area will consist of almost 2,000 new homes, a new school, nursery school, offices, restaurants, cafés and local services. Construction is currently in progress of the school, nursery school and five attractive residential blocks with commercial premises in the ground floors.
