Today, Wallenstam together with Nacka Municipality is conducting an inauguration ceremony for the urban development project Mera Älta. With around 1,250 new apartments in progress along with expanded services, restaurants, cultural amenities and new meeting places, Wallenstam together with Nacka Municipality wants to highlight the holistic nature of the project. CEO Hans Wallenstam and Chairman of the Municipal Executive Board Mats Gerdau are today unveiling the construction work sign and are making hand castings on-site.

Wallenstam’s new construction project in central Älta involves seven blocks. The first block, which is already in production, includes about 200 apartments and almost 5,000 sq m of commercial floor space.

“This is a really long-awaited inauguration ceremony which we are conducting together with the municipality. An official starting shot for Mera Älta and our vision of providing more homes in an attractive area. Here, we want to create a more vibrant place where quality of life and the small-town feel are in focus,” says Mathias Aronsson, Vice CEO of Wallenstam.

“For a long time, Älta residents have been asking for a nice center where people will want to stay longer and socialize. For this reason, it is really great that today we are marking the start of the Älta of the future. Our shared vision for Älta’s development is in focus, which is based on what Älta residents want to have more of. With more housing close to beautiful nature and lakes, new meeting places for sports, culture, services and commerce, this will be a wonderful place to enjoy and feel good in,” says Mats Gerdau, Chairman of the Municipal Executive Board Nacka Municipality

With the development of Älta, Wallenstam wants to connect the square with existing residential areas and create natural and inviting meeting places around culture, services and commerce. This is work that will continue for many years.

“Together with Wallenstam, we are now building further on all of the qualities that Älta has today and which will be strengthened in the future. We are putting a strong focus on better connecting Älta’s surroundings, where the green area, the opportunity to meet around sports, outdoor life, culture and additional services will inject more life between the buildings,” says Katarina Wåhlin Alm, Director of Urban Development Nacka Municipality.
