Rounded corner building winner for new block in Kallebäcks Terrasser
A rounded corner building featuring a roof terrace, a tasteful, varied design and nice layouts with sustainable qualities are some of the ideas that resulted in Liljewall arkitekter winning the competition to design one of the future blocks in Kallebäcks Terrasser.It concerns 160 new rental apartments in block 7, Kedjan, which will start to be built in 2021.
“Kallebäcks Terrasser is a large district that will be developed over time. In addition to a comprehensive quality program and the zoning plan requirements, we wanted to further develop the architectural level and announced an architectural competition for one of the blocks in the area,” says Marina Fritsche, Regional Director for Gothenburg and Vice CEO of Wallenstam.
The block containing the 160 apartments shall be built in a natural staircase that follows the slope of the street. The design proposal has taken inspiration from Paris with warm hues, cohesive variation and façades with a city feel. All apartments, where allowed by the zoning plan, will have access to a balcony or patio.
“We are happy and proud that our proposal was so well received. It has been a very exciting and challenging project to design. Now we are looking forward to the next stage of the process,” says Hilda Esping Nordblom, architect at Liljewall.
In early 2019, construction began of one of Gothenburg’s major urban development areas Kallebäcks Terrasser. The first blocks are now taking shape in a district, which in the longer term will include 1,800 new homes and 1,200 office workspaces as well as schools, nursery schools, restaurants, cafés and local services.
Right now construction is underway of 435 rental apartments with occupation expected during 2021. In addition, construction is also in progress of Entré Kallebäck where job satisfaction will be in focus for the smart, flexible premises with space for a total of 1,200 workspaces.
