Today, construction officially started of Mölnlycke Fabriker, one of Wallenstam’s largest building projects in the Gothenburg region with 600 new homes and development of the district’s genuine factory environments. To symbolize the start of construction, Per Vorberg, Chairman of the Municipal Executive Board in Härryda Municipality and Jan Inge Forsberg, member of the Municipal Executive Board, sat in a digger on-site in order to take the first scoop of earth for Mölnlycke Fabriker.

“We are finally underway with the development of Mölnlycke Fabriker. This is an exciting and complex project, which will provide 600 new homes but also contribute to the careful development of the distinctive factory environment along Bruksgatan. We hope to be able to welcome our first tenants here by year-end 2020,” says Hans Wallenstam, CEO of Wallenstam.

“Mölnlycke Fabriker is a major project. The construction will occur in phases and will continue for many years. We will build a total of six blocks here and the first phase will be 123 rental apartments in the Rosengången block,” says Hans Wallenstam.

In about six months’ time, Härryda Municipality will build a large new sports center for international floorball matches with space for 1,700 people in the stands, as well as a training facility.

“However, first and foremost, I expect that the sports center will become Härryda’s own arena for events and a meeting point for the municipality’s residents where many different things are happening all the time. These activities could range from dance-band evenings, chess and indoor football championships to LAN games,” says Jan Inge Forsberg, one of the politicians in the Municipal Executive Board who has been most active in driving the question of the new sports center.

“It feels really great that we can now get started with the development of Mölnlycke Fabriker, which will provide more housing, improved conditions for the business sector and make Härryda Municipality even stronger,” says Per Vorberg Chairman of the Municipal Executive Board

In connection with the start of construction of Mölnlycke Fabriker, Emma Limdal, aged 11, and winner of the naming competition for one of the district’s future blocks, got to inaugurate her own bench in the area. The block name Väven was the winning entry. The other names voted for are Sländan, Skogsvaktaren, Rosengången, Kvarnen and Stallet.

The start of construction of Mölnlycke Fabriker was organized in connection with Bruksgatan Market, a small-scale market involving about 30 exciting exhibitors offering a range of experiences, food, handicrafts and creative elements.
