Wallenstam has now put the spade in the ground for Kallebäcks Terrasser, the company’s largest construction project to date in the Gothenburg region. On the site that once belonged to the old Arla factory, the first blocks are now emerging in an area, which will include 1,800 new homes, more than 1,000 office workspaces, a school, nursery school, restaurants, cafés and local services.

Together with the City of Gothenburg’s City Planning Director Henrik Kant and Director of Property Management Martin Öbo, the first sod was turned today for Kallebäcks Terrasser, which has obtained its name from the differences in altitude and natural terraces in the district.

“We are now finally underway with the development of Kallebäcks Terrasser, one of Gothenburg’s major urban development projects, where we are going to create pleasant homes, meeting places, offices, retail space, services and also provide unique mobility solutions for our tenants,” says Hans Wallenstam, CEO.

The first block in Kallebäcks Terrasser will involve 270 rental apartments in three buildings, which will climb along the hill. The apartments will range in size from studio to four bedrooms and the first occupation is expected to occur in late 2021. The buildings will be constructed according to Miljöbyggnad Silver rating and will feature a color scheme inspired by the hill and nearby forest.

As part of the mobility initiative for the area, among other things, residents will have access to a cost-free bicycle pool with special bikes, a car pool via Wallenstam Go, a bicycle repair room and a starter pack, which will encourage people to move about on foot, by bike, public transport or by pool car.

Apart from construction of housing, development will also soon start of an office building for about 1,000 workspaces in a building, which will be an extension of the hill. The first phase of Kallebäcks Terrasser is a part of the BoStad2021 initiative.
