The Terrassen block is being developed in Kallebäcks Terrasser
The second residential block in Kallebäcks Terrasser is starting to take shape with 165 rental apartments, which are ascending along Smörgatan hill. The apartments, which are strategically located in the upper corner of the area with proximity to the forest, communications and a terraced park, range in size from studio to 3 bedrooms and will be completed for Gothenburg’s 400th anniversary in 2021.
“The Terrassen block, which was started in spring 2019, is our second block in Kallebäcks Terrasser which is being allocated through our own housing queue. The buildings are being constructed according to Miljöbyggnad Silver rating and with their 165 apartments they will create a welcoming block shape with a south-facing courtyard in a wonderful sunny position. A perfect residence if you want to be close to nature, the city and convenient local services,” says Marina Fritsche, Vice CEO of Wallenstam.
The block also contains a detached building at the elevation that is located adjacent to the terraced park, which will be developed in the area, an entirely new green park space that will connect with the dramatic nature of the nearby hill.
“Colors and tones are inspired by John Bauer’s enchanted forests. Here nature and the city meet. The wild hill is moulded in green and warm earth colors and the new city with beautiful struck-joint brick in the base floor and frames. All entrances have a warm and welcoming character featuring large glass partitions of oak,” says Petter Lodmark, architect at QPG arkitekter, who designed the buildings.
In early 2019, Wallenstam started the development of Kallebäcks Terrasser, one of Gothenburg’s major urban development areas where the first blocks are now taking shape. In the longer term, the area will include 1,800 new homes and 1,000 office workspaces as well as schools, nursery schools, restaurants, cafés and local services. New construction is currently in progress of 435 rental apartments with gradual occupation from 2021.
In addition to this, construction is also in progress of Kallebäcks Terrasser’s large office property where job satisfaction will be in focus in the smart, flexible premises.
