As part of an early collaboration in the Västra Knivsta area, Wallenstam together with three other developers has been selected to be part of an urban development agreement with the Municipality. The agreement means that Wallenstam and the other developers will be part of a reference group in the planning scheme work, will be anchor developers and will obtain a land allocation equivalent to about 250 apartments each.

In the planning scheme work, Knivsta Municipality is testing a new method in order to ensure high quality in the planning of the area by involving external competencies at an early stage. Wallenstam is one of the four developers selected to be part of a so-called urban development agreement with the Municipality as an anchor tenant in a reference group.

The reference group will be led by Göran Cars, Professor in Urban Planninng at the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH), who has extensive experience of major urban development projects, including the planning of Kiruna’s new city center.

“It is exciting that Knivsta Municipality is now trying to develop the municipality in a new way, where competencies from the property sector can help provide the basis for a new district at such as early stage,” says Mathias Aronsson, Vice CEO and Regional Director of Wallenstam.

“Urban development is best when both the municipality and the business community work together and we at Wallenstam are very happy to be involved in creating an exciting and attractive Knivsta,” says Mathias Aronsson.

The decision that the Municipality will enter into an urban development agreement with the four developers was taken by the Municipal Executive Board on November 12, 2019. The agreements are expected to be signed during the coming week.
