Wallenstam in new collaboration for climate optimization

Plant and Wallenstam have signed a framework agreement for calculation of the carbon footprint in several stages of the company’s construction projects. So far, about fifteen new constructions are included, for example in the urban development projects Älta in Nacka, Umami Park in Sundbyberg and Kallebäcks Terrasser in Gothenburg.

We already calculate the business’s carbon footprint, report our CO2 emissions from our construction operations and make climate calculations on our new production. Through the collaboration with Plant we can continue to develop the company’s climate reporting in a very flexible way and at the same time focus more on our climate optimization. It feels really great,” says Karin Mizgalski, Sustainability Manager at Wallenstam.

We want to make it easy to produce several climate calculations over the course of the project and thereby follow up on how different choices impact the project’s carbon footprint on the bottom line,” says Pelle Tunell, CEO of Plant.

The software that is used for Wallenstam’s calculations is self-learning and can learn to recognize patterns in BIM models, in other words 3D models which are created in the construction process for planning and visualization with the objective of gathering information about processes and decisions concerning the building.

Our climate calculations provide a detailed understanding of where carbon footprints arise in the building. When we make climate calculations in so many projects and in different stages like we are doing now, we will also be able to start finding patterns in a completely different way than before,” says Pelle Tunell, CEO of Plant.
