Wallenstam and Colive have signed an agreement on developing co-living housing, a so-called “co-living hub” in Kallebäcks Terrasser, one of Gothenburg’s largest urban development areas. The agreement relates to co-living apartments for 117 tenants, divided between a seven-floor building and a five-floor building with expected occupation during fall 2022. Kallebäcks Terrasser in the longer term will consist of 1,800 new homes and 1,200 office workspaces as well as schools, nursery schools, restaurants, cafés and local services.

“We already have a project together with Colive in Haninge and we are noticing an increased interest for everything in the sharing economy and collective living in many ways. Based on our social sustainability work, it feels really great to be able to provide this form of housing in Gothenburg too,” says Marina Fritsche, Vice CEO of Wallenstam.

The co-sharing concept means that the tenants will have their own private room with their own toilet and shower and will share social areas and kitchen. The rent includes Internet, cleaning of common areas and furniture, among other things. In addition to the co-living apartments, the tenants have full access to common areas on the ground floor, which will be a meeting place for all “co-livers” in the building with a “social laundry room”, lounge, workspaces, socializing areas and a patio.

The target group is young adults aged from 20-35, who value living together with others for increased social interaction and a sense of community, while the housing offers a maintained private life by having your own room,” says Katarina Liljestam Beyer, Vice CEO and co-founder of Colive AB.

“We are proud to have now finally had the opportunity to get started in Gothenburg and Kallebäcks Terrasser. Together with Wallenstam, we have now already created the basis for a really good co-living hub in Stockholm and we see that Gothenburg is more than ready for this. Besides modern and pleasant housing, our “co-livers” are part of a community with the opportunity to get to know and socialize with new people,” says Katarina Liljestam Beyer.

In summer 2019, Wallenstam signed an agreement that 17 co-living apartments for about 100 tenants in Haninge would be let to Stockholm-based Colive AB.

In Kallebäcks Terrasser, where the planning and design work for attractive co-living housing with Colive is underway, the first blocks are now taking shape. Construction of 435 rental apartments is in progress with first occupation planned during 2021. In addition to this, construction is also underway of Kallebäcks Terrasser’s large office property with 13,000 square meters of office space in smart, flexible premises.
