Festive Family Art Projects and Holiday Workshop Weekend this Winter

Report this content

Celebrate the holiday season at Wave Hill! Each weekend, Family Art Projects help spread holiday cheer. Create colorful and embellished candles, craft pop-up holiday cards, dust fragrant pine boughs with beads and shiny foil for a glowing holiday decoration. And to carry all of your holiday treats home, craft recycled containers into glittery gift baskets. Then look ahead to the New Year and design your own calendar, filling the pages with your favorite Wave Hill-inspired scenes from every season!

Saturday and Sunday, December 8, 9, children eight and older are invited to join in on the fun at Holiday Workshops. Wave Hill staff lead three different workshops, making  one-of-a-kind wreaths or centerpiece using materials harvested from Wave Hill’s lovely gardens. Then roll up your sleeves and learn the process of felting, the art of transforming wool into dense, colorful cloth. Whether as precious tokens for those you love or treats for your family, your  special creations are sure to spread the holiday cheer!

Family Art Projects

Family Art Project meets every Saturday and Sunday, from 10AM–1PM in the Ecology Building, free with admission to the grounds.

December 1, 2 Festive Candles, Belas festival

Mix and mold colored wax until it softens like clay, and then use it to embellish a plain, white candlestick. Add an array of colors and textures to make a spectacular candle to light up the holiday season.

December 8, 9 Season’s Greetings, Bienvenuda a la estacion

See the inspiring signs of Wave Hill’s wintery wonderland. Draw your own cold-weather tales in surprise, pop-up holiday cards that come alive with scenes of the season.

December 15, 16 Sparkle and Shine, Brillo y luz
