Welcome Winter in the Gardens with a Weekend of Family-Friendly Activities

January 10 & 11, 2015Winter at Wave Hill is bursting with life! Over the weekend of January 10 and 11, let your little ones get acquainted with the intrepid flora and fauna that populate our peaceful grounds. Get to know your local hibernators at the Hibernator’s Den Family Art Project—listen to sleepy tales of the season, make a furry hibernator mask and fashion a dreamy, woodsy home. PJ’s welcome! On Sunday, continue the fun of the Family Art Project with a Who’s Awake? Family Walk with naturalist and educator Gabriel Willow and discover which insects and animals stay awake in the cold.

Celebrate the Holiday Season with Family-Friendly Festivities at Wave Hill!

As the leaves disappear and sparkling snow coats the ground, bring your little ones to Wave Hill for festive holiday activities inspired by the beauty of nature in winter. Throughout the month of December, tote your creative kiddos along to four special holiday-themed Family Art Projects. The month kicks off with Season’s Greetings —inspired by the changing seasons, you’ll draw your own cold-weather tales in a variety of surprise, pop-up holiday cards. Holiday Workshop Weekend at Wave Hill Dec 7, 8 2013

Bronx, NY, November 25, 2013― Amidst the flurry of the holiday season, come to Wave Hill to relax and create your own gifts and decorations at our holiday workshop weekend. Craft a one-of-a-kind, verdant wreath or custom holiday centerpiece using natural materials, pine cones and fresh greens harvested from Wave Hill’s stunning gardens. Both workshops are lead by Assistant Director of Public Programs Laurel Rimmer and Horticultural Interpreter Charles Day.
