Music streaming service WiMP has launched its new app in the Windows Store, supporting devices running Windows 8 or 8.1.

The range of supported devices that can now run WiMP include Microsoft Surface RT, Microsoft Surface Pro, Microsoft Surface 2 and Microsoft Surface Pro 2 as well as other Windows tablets and regular PCs with Windows 8 or 8.1.

“Surface is a beautifully designed device and we love the user experience that Microsoft introduced with their Windows Phone. With the snap-on keyboard you have all you need on the go and the Microsoft UX platform really makes WiMP shine with focus on content and usability through touch” says Paal Berg, Head of Client Development in WiMP.

The primary focus of the app is displaying WiMP’s editorial content including daily news and recommendations, playlists and albums. The app also offers sharing functionality, easy search and of course WiMP’s complete catalogue comprising over 20 million tracks.

“We’re excited to see how our editorial content is displayed on Windows apps, it’s a sleek experience that should be easily enjoyable for our users. Right now we’re for instance running a high fidelity theme celebrating good sound and encouraging users to listen to great albums from A-Z in WiMP,” says Sveinung Rindal, Head of Global Editorial in WiMP.
