WiMP Music tests new open player offering exciting news
From today you can test music streaming service WiMP directly in your browser, and completely without registering an account. WiMP opens a beta version of the new web player, which also contains a variety of news. In addition to a new design making it even easier to find your way in the giant music catalog of over 25 million songs, users can also access music videos, a new playlist section and their new personal profile in the service.
The new web player is available directly in your browser on play.wimpmusic.com and requires no installation. The player is launched in a beta version and is open for play up to 30 seconds of songs without the need to register an account. If you are already a WiMP-user simply log in and play.
WIMP presents video
In May WiMP launched its own video channel in the Android client. The new web player also features music video in HD on each artist page.
"Music deserves the best sound quality, as we have in WiMP, but music is also much more than sound. WiMP gives you access to all the music videos from record companies, and we will also invest in both our own content from WiMP Live Sessions and video material from other partners. All with the ambition to offer our users the ultimate music experience", said CEO of WiMP Music Andy Chen.
WiMP has licensed music videos from all the major music companies and many small, totaling over 75,000 videos.
Stylish new playlist section with music for all occasions
WiMP has from the beginning profiled a strong editorial approach, where almost all the music displayed in the service are hand-picked by the global and local music editors. The editorial teams work every day to provide users with the best music experiences from all sides and edges, both geographically and within genres. From the great American hits to Scandinavian pearls, from classics to the latest news and from Shubert to Sia. WiMP has also focused on the album format, with both recommendations, top lists and album lists. Playlists, naturally, have also been important, and in the new version of WiMP this part received a facelift. The new playlist section is divided into moods and occasions in which users can select music for relaxation, party, workout, romance, concentration or dinner on the first level. Those who want to dive even further down, can also find historical lists, seasonal lists, media lists, charts, guest lists and event-based lists.
"We present hundreds of playlists during a year, and now we'll meet the need to show the most relevant lists in each category. Additionally, we introduce a set playlist for every situation that will be updated weekly and makes it very easy to find good music whether you are relaxing or on the go", says Sveinung Rindal, global editor of WiMP Music.
Building your music collection with a personal profile
Another new feature is the ability to create a personal profile, add your first name, last name and picture. The profile page also shows your music collection, both music saved as favorites and playlists you have created, now collected on one page.
"Now can you manage all your music in one place and build your own record collection," says Rindal.
Other snacks in the new version:
- Easier navigation with submenus News, Recommended, Top and Local, within albums, tracks and playlists.
- The search function now remembers your last searches, so you don't have to enter them again.
- Genre pages have been polished.
- It's even easier to share music from the service.
