Field study shows that remote guidance using augmented reality (AR) is more effective than a standard video call

Linköping, Sweden—XMReality AB (publ.) (NASDAQ First North: XMR), an international leader in AR-enabled knowledge sharing, has published a field study comparing XMReality’s AR-enabled remote guidance tool with a standard video call for problem solving. 

The field study, which was carried out in July/August 2018, tested the two technologies head-to-head in four areas; user preference, resolution time, number of errors and perceived efficiency. The results are all in favor of the AR tool:

  • 84% of the test subjects preferred XMReality Remote Guidance to a standard video call
  • Problem solving was 32% faster with XMReality Remote Guidance
  • 50% fewer errors occurred when using XMReality Remote Guidance
  • The test subjects perceived XMReality Remote Guidance as more efficient
