Xyleme LCMS 3.7 builds content ready for personalization

Boulder, CO; September 19, 2012 – With the increase in use of technology for learning, learners are demanding to access their content on the many devices they are already using, when they want it, and customized to their specific wants and needs. In response to these changes and as continuing their reputation as an industry leader, Xyleme, Inc. has released a new version of Xyleme LCMS, which provides significant improvements in the areas of content personalization, output formats and usability.

Continuing a heavy focus on being able to support personalization, the update to Xyleme LCMS 3.7 provides training organizations the unparalleled flexibility to build their own classification vocabularies as it relates to their specific business. This is especially important with the increased focus on personalization because it allows users to build a single-source of XML content that can be dynamically assembled based on individual learner requirements and delivered on any device at the moment they need it.

“Consumers are demanding that their learning be personalized, and as a result, the content has to change from one size fits all, monolithic courses, to nuggets of content that can be configured on the fly to meet individual requirements,” commented Jeff Katzman, CLO and Founder at Xyleme. “Adapting to this methodology will be the key to sustained competitive advantage and valuable employee retention.”

Other highlights of Xyleme LCMS 3.7 demonstrate Xyleme’s full support of the agile process and include many customer-driven features including:

  • Microsoft Word Output - Publish your content in Word format where design is defined through your own Word Templates. This output is in addition to the already available PDF format.
  • Improved PowerPoint Output - Now includes support for slide transitions, equations, formulas and hyperlinks.
  • Redesign of User Management - Simpler, more efficient management of numerous users and groups.

Other features include glossary and cross reference support in ePub outputs, embedding external video content like YouTube or Vimeo videos and the new Hot Text question type.

Attendees at a recent Single-source webinar shared our positive sentiment with comments like, “My head is spinning with all sorts of ideas of how this could help make us more efficient and able to keep our content updated,” and “this is really neat and a great way for Instructional Designers to save time and money when designing materials for courses.”
