Shopping center and heavy vehicle service center constructed in Lithuania

YIT has finished the first construction phase of NØRDIKA Shopping Valley in Lithuania. NØRDIKA is located near the Vilnius Airport, next to IKEA.The value of the first phase contract was approximately EUR 11 million. The project is developed by VPH, a Canadian venture capital firm.
The first phase of the shopping center has a floor area of 20,000 sq. m. It operates more than 30 local and international retail chains of shops and eateries, including the Rimi Hypermarket, Elektromarkt, McDonald's.
The value of the second phase is approximately EUR 10 million and it will be completed in the spring of 2016. The second phase of the shopping center will have a floor area of almost 22.000 sq. m.
Trade Valley NØRDIKA investors and developers are Peter Gage Morris, Barry Nabuursas and James Torpey. The project is developed by Ltd. VPH, and the general construction contractor is YIT Kausta. The building and the environment are designed by the Lithuanian company Unitectus, consulted by well-known international architectural bureau Chapman Taylor.
Heavy vehicle service center for Scania Lietuva
‘Scania Lietuva’,production company of trucks, buses and industrial & marine engines, ordered a new heavy vehicle service center in Aerouosto Street in Siauliai. The company invests 2.66 million EUR in the center. The project was launched in early September 2015 and will be finished in March 2016.
A two-story center with 7 working stations for repair and service was designed in 1,413 sq. m. area. The modern center will serve 6,000 vehicles a year and about 20 a day.
Move to a new larger building will give the opportunity to work in two shifts, and thus serve more customers and offer more sophisticated services. In addition, the new modern premises will be more comfortable for staff as well.
This is the fourth ‘Scania Lietuva’ center in the country and the second, which will be built by YIT Kausta. According to Kestutis Vanagas, General Director of YIT Kausta, this project will reflect all the latest Scania‘s structural and design requirements.
"The service center is designed and constructed so that Scania‘s team can work more comfortably and efficiently. Construction will be done in significantly challenging 6-month timeline. Workers will move into the new building at the end of March 2016, " said K. Vanagas.
