Zalaris and AKTIV Against Cancer enter into a new agreement

In 2013, Zalaris and AKTIV Against Cancer first entered into an agreement. The two have now agreed on a further cooperation from January 1st, 2018.

Zalaris has been supporting the organization AKTIV Against Cancer (Aktiv mot kreft) in Norway over the past five years. Now, the two have entered into a new agreement on the important work against cancer.

“In 2013, we were impressed by AKTIV Against Cancer’s work for physical activity as part of cancer treatment. Now, five years later, we experience positive consequences within Zalaris as our employees increase their commitment and engagement towards physical health”, says Hans-Petter Mellerud, CEO in Zalaris.

AKTIV Against Cancer is a private foundation established by Helle Aanesen and Grete Waitz in 2007. The foundation’s ambition is to establish physical activity as a part of cancer treatment. AKTIV Against Cancer establishes and builds fitness and activity centres, called “Pusterom”, in hospitals treating cancer all over Norway.

“We are very happy for all support that we have received from Zalaris over the years. Together, we work hard to establish “Pusterom” on all hospitals treating cancer in Norway, says Helle Aanesen, CEO in AKTIV Against Cancer.

Physical activity can reduce side effects from cancer treatment and increase tolerance, strength and energy. But most importantly, it builds confidence and increases life quality.

“We experience stronger work culture than before, increase in physical activity and more employees participating on events supporting AKTIV Against Cancer. It is our privilege to continue supporting AKTIV against cancer in the future”, Mellerud says.

Through the agreement, all Zalaris’ employees are getting access to www.sprekere.no, a web-based tool which register physical activity. Every minute registered will be transferred into money given to AKTIV Against Cancer. As a part of the support, Zalaris employees participate in sport arrangements like Holmenkollmarsjen, Birkerbeinerløpet and New York City Marathon, among others.

“We experience that all employees value high the chance to contribute – and it is important for the patients using “Pusterom” that Zalaris are onboard. Now, we are looking forward to a new year with our supporters, Helle Aanesen says.
