OSLO, Norway, September 24, 2019 – Zivid, the 3D machine vision camera company, today announced two key appointments in its East Asia sales region. The move establishes the Norwegian company’s first sales offices in China and South Korea.

The former Sales Engineering Manager, APAC region for the American firm Rethink Robotics, Patrick Wong becomes Zivid’s Country Manager for China. An experienced technical sales professional, and graduate in electronic engineering from Yunnan University, Wong will be based in Xiamen.

And creating Zivid’s office in Seoul is the company’s new Country Manager for Korea, Byoung Ho Choi. Joining Zivid from a position of Channel Manager at Silicon Labs, Choi brings a wealth of hi-tech sales experience spanning a range of sectors including semiconductors and communications infrastructure.

Mikkel Orheim, Zivid’s VP of Global Sales said, “Our expansion in East Asia is both timely and natural, given the rapidly increasing level of automation and innovation in the region. More specifically, high-quality 3D vision technology is embraced in a wide range of applications, including sophisticated robotics and AI solutions. Here our products’ combination of high speed and high accuracy is a natural fit.”

Zivid recruited its first distributors in the Asia region earlier in the year, appointing machine vision specialists Magichan and Micro-Technica for China and Japan respectively. Further expansion is planned, and the company has started the recruitment of local field application engineers.

Launched last year, the Zivid One Plus is considered to be the world’s most accurate real-time 3D color machine vision camera. Comprising three variants, Small, Medium and Large, it promises no-compromise, human-like 3D machine vision to a wide range of robotic and industrial automation systems.
