New Balance+ control renewal project in Rayong
ÅF in Finland has signed a new Balance+ contract with Glow Energy Public Company Limited in Thailand.
Glow Energy is one of the main private electricity producers in Thailand and it is part of GDF Suez. Glow Energy’s CFB3, a coal-fired circulating fluidized bed boiler unit, located in Rayong province, has net electric capacity of 85 MWe and export steam 79 t/hr. Balance+ implementation will improve the plant’s existing conventional main controls resulting in better thermal efficiency, lower auxiliary power consumption, improved robustness to disturbances and increased boiler life-cycle.
The project has started with control performance evaluation in late 2014, which demonstrated the feasibility of improvement potential. Basic engineering and application design are on-going and commissioning phase is planned during second quarter of 2015.
