The Property Fund Sveafastigheter Sverige I has divested the property ”Gamla Volvofabriken” (The Old Volvo Car Factory), located in connection to the Hansa City retail area in Kalmar, Sweden.

The property has a total lettable area of approximately 60,000 sqm, hosting tenants within retail, offices, logistics and the municipality e.g. Liljas Bil, Electra and Kalmar County Museum. The new owner is a local investment group with connection to the region.

Sveafastigheter acquired the property and surrounding area 2005, as part of the Kalmar Tech Park acquisition. Thereafter,

great efforts have been made in cooperation with P&E Förvaltning (asset management partner) to refine the property and develop the Hansa City retail area, which opened in 2006.

-During our tenancy, we have been working resolutely to improve the property through extensive leasing and tenant fit-outs. Now it is a strategically good timing for us to sell the property to a long-term asset manager, thereby realising yet another part of Fund I, which was started in 2003, says Eric Bergström at Sveafastigheter.
