As the tougher emissions legislation is enforced in Europe, by 2014 some 650,000 engines will have to comply to Power Systems Research data. Fuel cost is the single largest component representing about 30 percent of total operating cost for transport companies. However large the engine, wherever it is made and wherever it is used, there will be tougher emissions standards and increased focus on reducing fuel consumption.
