Diaverum acquires Clinica Dialmed with nine clinics in Romania

Independent renal care provider to care for more than 850 patients in the country

Bucharest / Munich, 5 December 2011 – Diaverum, one of the world´s largest independent renal care providers, today announced the acquisition of Clinica Dialmed, a member of the Polisano Group, which provides dialysis services in Romania. The nine clinics with more than 850 patients now form part of the global Diaverum renal care network across Europe, Middle East, Latin America and Australia. Diaverum is significantly strengthening its position in Eastern Europe by entering Romania. Local staff, patients and payers will benefit from high standards of clinical policies and procedures, thorough internal and external audits, awarded training programmes and a patient-first approach.

Camelia Cucu is the newly appointed Managing Director of Diaverum Romania Sarl. Prior to joining Diaverum, she served as General Manager at Nefromed Dialysis Centers, a part of Euromedic.

As a product independent renal care provider we can focus completely on the physical and emotional wellbeing of our patients, thus improving their quality of life,” said Camelia Cucu on the announcement. “We are offering a broad portfolio of treatment modalities including haemodialysis (HD), haemodiafiltration (HDF), continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis (CADP) and automated peritoneal dialysis (APD) in our new clinics.”

The clinics acquired by Diaverum in Romania are located in Bucharest, Sibiu, Medias, Tg. Jiu, Miercurea Ciuc, Odorheiu Secuiesc, Bistrita as well as Roman and treat almost 10 percent of around 9,000 people in Romania requiring renal replacement therapy. Worldwide, more than two million people suffer from end stage renal disease (ESRD). This number is projected to double by 2025.
