Diaverum, the Swedish-born, global renal care provider, today announced that it has completed the acquisition of Serviço de Nefrologia Ribeirão Preto (SENERP) – a dialysis clinic located in Ribeirão Preto, a city in the northeastern part of São Paulo state. This expansion strengthens the company's growth strategy in Brazil by broadening access to high-quality renal care in one of the country’s most economically active and dynamic regions.

SENERP is operated by renowned nephrologists and has recently undergone a major refurbishment and expansion, increasing its treatment capacity and enhancing the overall patient experience. Currently, it provides care to 439 chronic kidney disease (CKD) patients – 414 on haemodialysis and 25 on peritoneal dialysis. With approximately 60,000 haemodialysis treatments performed annually, the clinic is already recognised for its high standards of care and strong relationships with private health insurers, who represent 37% of its patient base. In addition to outpatient services, SENERP holds acute care contracts with two local hospitals, providing approximately 300 hospital-based haemodialysis treatments per month.

Built on such a solid foundation, SENERP is well-positioned to integrate seamlessly into Diaverum’s global clinical ecosystem, while paving the way for future advancements such as expanded digital services and advanced therapies.

Rafael Romanini, CEO of Diaverum, stated: “Ribeirão Preto is a thriving regional hub with growing demand for specialised healthcare. The acquisition of SENERP allows us to expand our presence in the interior of São Paulo through a mature and well-managed clinic that shares Diaverum’s values: patient-centered care, clinical excellence, and a commitment to innovation.”

Luciano Bonaldo, Country Manager for Diaverum Brazil, added: “SENERP brings together a highly skilled clinical team, robust infrastructure, and a strong track record of quality care. This acquisition strengthens our position in the Southeast region and opens new opportunities for collaboration with private payers, enabling us to deliver integrated, patient-specific renal care across all treatment pathways.”

Paulo Cicogna, Medical Director for Diaverum Brazil, commented: “Expanding capacity is just one part of our mission – our focus remains on improving care quality and continuity for every patient. By integrating SENERP into our network, we will deploy Diaverum’s standardised medical protocols, continuous training programmes, and digital tools, building a more efficient and compassionate renal care ecosystem.”

The acquisition of SENERP marks the fourth addition to Diaverum Brazil’s clinic network in the past 12 months, bringing the total number of its facilities in the country to 14, including two Vascular Access Centres. Collectively, these sites now provide care to over 5,300 patients, supported by a network of approximately 1,500 healthcare professionals.

This rapid expansion is driven by Brazil’s rising need for CKD treatment. As a country with one of the largest dialysis populations in the world, Brazil faces growing demand for renal services. By operating this clinic in one of its most populous cities, Diaverum reaffirms its commitment to delivering world-class renal care that empowers patients to live fulfilling lives, while working closely with Brazil's public healthcare system, Sistema Único de Saúde (SUS – Unified Health System), to extend access to specialised renal services.
