Panels to Focus on Gaming and Esports in Schools, Children’s Gaming and Parenthood, Unifying Factor of Games, and Importance of Grassroots Movements

STOCKHOLM — DreamHack, the premier gaming lifestyle festival, today announced that the company will feature four panel discussions during Scandinavia’s largest cultural event, the Göteborg Book Fair, which will be held online September 24-27, 2020.
 

DreamHack is one of five partners to the book fair’s Digital Culture theme and will host the following panel discussions on the Book Fair Play platform:

 
  1. The Importance of Grassroots Movements in a Sustainable Esports Ecosystem

Esports is an umbrella term for multiple competitive gaming disciples, each of which has its own fan base, leagues and tournaments. Even though the esport industry is big, the grassroot movement is substantially smaller, compared to other sports. We discuss the process of moving from amateur to professional esports, the infrastructure of the future esports industry and why grassroot movements play a crucial role in building it.

The gaming culture is a unifying force that is both age-bridging and all-inclusive, and it can solve challenges in our society while providing more space and a stronger voice to those who are not otherwise included. To showcase some real-life examples of how gaming can be used as a tool for successful integration (“Fritidsgårdskampen in Jönköping and Studio Ludum at the University of Skövde), we will talk about the latest research on the brain and the digital world, and will dive into the important role of gaming one’s spare time.
