STOCKHOLM — DreamHack, the premier gaming lifestyle festival, launched the first of its new Fortnite Solo tournament series July 17-26.  The series — entitled DreamHack Open Featuring Fortnite consists of monthly, online tournaments for Europe, North America East, and North America West.  With nearly 500,000 registered players from all over the world, all hoping to be in the top 100 after the semi-finals,  the inaugural event had the highest number of participants of any DreamHack tournament to date. A total of $1.75 million USD will be awarded, with a prize pool of $250,000 up for grabs every month through January 2021.

All monthly tournaments will be produced and broadcast live on Twitch by DreamHack. The competitions are open to anyone 13 years of age or older. Registration for the August Solo tournament is available HERE.

 

JULY WINNERS

Europe Grand Final

  • Polish player teeq was the winner for the European Grand Finals

  • Coming in second was 100 Thieves’ MrSavage (who also won the 2020 DreamHack Anaheim tournament)
 

North America East Grand Final

  • Team Liquid’s STRETCH was the winner of the North America East Grand Finals

  • Coming in second place was FaZe’s Dubs
 

North America West Grand Final

  • 100 Thieves’ Arkhram  was the winner of the North America West Grand Finals

  • Coming in second place was Team Parallel North America’s Frapai
 

Several of the world’s top Fortnite players qualified for the Grand Finals, including: Sentinels’ Bugha (2019 World Cup solo winner); FaZe’s Dubs; TSM’s ZexRow; FaZe’s Mongraal; and NRG’s benjyfishy

“With nearly 500,000 participants, the response to this inaugural tournament was tremendous,”  said DreamHack Chief Product Officer Michael Van Driel. “On behalf of all of us at DreamHack, we congratulate the three regional winners, commend those who made the top 100 in each region, and thank everyone for being a part of this first DreamHack Open Featuring Fortnite. We can’t wait for August.” 

 

AUGUST TOURNAMENT DATES

  • North America West

    • August 6-7 | 5pm PDT
    • Grand Final on August 7
  • North American East 
    • August 20-21 | 5pm EDT
    • Grand Final on August 21
  • Europe
    • August 22-23, 5pm CEST
    • Grand Final on August 23

  

TOURNAMENT FORMAT

  • Two open qualifiers with 750 players advancing from each heat to the semifinals.

    • Each player can play a maximum of 10 games during the three-hour heat.
  • Semifinals with 100 players advancing to the Grand Final. 
    • Each player can play a maximum of 10 games during the three-hour heat.
  • Grand Final with 6 consecutive games at scheduled times. 
    • New game starts every 40 minutes.
