Stockholm, Sweden – May 21, 2019 – Edgeware will be exhibiting its latest technological innovations at BroadcastAsia 2019 in Singapore. This will include showcasing solutions that enable broadcasters, content providers, telecom- and cable TV operators to deliver a beyond broadcast TV experience to their viewers.

Edgeware’s new Virtual Channel Creation solution enables broadcasters to offer a theme-based TV experience and create TV channels tailored for viewers’ interests. Content is stitched together with Edgeware’s TV Repackager to create alternative OTT versions of linear channels that are adapted for their audiences. For example, temporary ‘fan-channels’ can be created for fans of different sports teams or around popular live programs, such as sports or music events. The demand for personalised viewing experiences is highlighted in an online research that Edgeware commissioned from YouGov which found that 89%* of adults across the UK, US, Hong Kong, Mexico and Spain would be interested in watching content aimed at their personal interests when viewing traditional TV channels.

BroadcastAsia attendees will have access to Edgeware’s live ‘big event’ OTT solution. The suite of features, which includes Dynamic Asset Spreading and Predictive Session Load Balancing, allows operators to deliver popular big live programming glitch-free, on a huge scale and in a higher quality than conventional broadcast TV. This makes it ideal for international sporting competitions such as the upcoming Rugby World Cup and Olympics which take place in the region and attract large audiences all watching simultaneously.

“The way TV is delivered and consumed is continuing to develop at a significant rate, particularly for live events. It means today’s operators can’t afford to stand still when it comes to the technical capabilities of their infrastructures,” said Peter Löfling, Edgeware's VP Sales APAC. “With the Tokyo Olympics just over a year away, this is especially true for local broadcasters. They have to start thinking about how they are going to deal with the increase in demand for sports content and whether their delivery networks are able to deliver the quality experience viewers now expect.”

Furthermore, the recently launched Edgeware Cloud Service provides access to a number of key functionality such as cutting-edge content processing technology with frame accurate segmentation for glitch-free personalized ads, optimized segmentation for synchronized audio video and subtitling, as well as the OCR subtitling feature from Cavena, which it recently acquired. The cloud service offers Edgeware’s OTT TV technology expertise without the need to own and run systems in-house.

BroadcastAsia 2019 will be held on 18-20 June in the Suntec Singapore exhibition centre, presenting the game-changing and innovative technologies that are disrupting the digital multimedia and broadcasting industries. Come and visit Edgeware at stand 6L2-04 in the TV Everywhere Zone.

* Figures are from YouGov Plc, an international data and analytics group. Total sample size was 6,555 adults; 1,310 US adults, 1,011 Spanish adults, 1,060 Mexican adults, 1,000 Hong Kong adults, 2,174 UK adults. Fieldwork was undertaken between 28th February and 15th March 2019. The survey was carried out online.
