A blasting start in Hovås Höjd

Balder has now started the construction of the new residential area Hovås Höjd, which is located along Skalldalsvägen and up towards the Sandsjöbacka Nature Reserve. Here, 148 rental apartments will be built in apartment blocks and terraced houses as well as a common community house.

Instead of a traditional turf-cutting ceremony, the start of construction was celebrated through a collective blasting at the site. Apart from Erik Selin, participants in the ceremony included Mats Ahdrian, Chairman of the Building Committee and Erik Olofsson, CEO of Byggnads AB Tornstaden.

“It feels very gratifying to create a new residential area where the location with proximity to the sea and nature, a unique vantage point and good communications will create an excellent basis for people to be happy and feel good,” says Balder’s CEO Erik Selin.

The residential area’s location close to nature is unique and nature has been used as a source of inspiration in designing the homes in Hovås Höjd. The buildings will be constructed according to Miljöbyggnad Silver rating.

“I am delighted to be onsite to see this project starting up. The fact that apartments and municipal terraced houses are being built in combination is aligned with the goals we set for urban development in Gothenburg. This can perhaps become a model for other areas.  Hovås Höjd will be part of the plans to link the classic buildings in Hovås with the popular New Hovås (Nya Hovås) district. It will be an attractive environment to live and reside in,” says Mats Ahdrian, Chairman of the Building Committee.

The 148 tenant-owner’s apartments will be spread among four tower blocks with basement and a garage is being built under the 10 terraced houses. The homes range in size from 1-5 rooms and kitchen and have large balconies or terraces. Many of the homes will look out over Askim Fjord, Gothenburg Golf Club and/or towards the Sandsjöbacka Nature Reserve. There are good communications to Gothenburg.

“We are very happy that Balder has entrusted us with another project. We have been stimulated by being able to offer creative production solutions for Hovås Höjd, which met Balder’s requirements and wishes. Now we are looking forward to realising this great project in close collaboration with Balder,” says Erik Olofsson who is CEO of Byggnads AB Tornstaden.

Comprehensive mobility solutions will be available in the area including electric car pool and bicycle pool. The aim is to facilitate and provide access to sustainable travel. A common community house will also be built in the area for the residents. In the common community house, called “Navet” (the Hub), there will be a large family room for parties and other events as well as two apartments for overnight stays, among other things. There will be inviting meeting places between the buildings and a winter garden, which will be conducive for meetings all year round. Occupation is expected to start in summer 2023.
