Balder launches new residential area
Welcome to Frölunda Park, which is the name of the new residential area that Balder is building in Frölunda. The ambition is to create a new urban district in the area around Lergöksgatan. The goal is to build approximately 550 newly produced apartments, new shops and grocery stores, modernisation of the current green areas as well as renovation of Stjärnhusen and build a new school. Frölunda Park shall be implemented over the course of four different building stages and is expected to be completed in 2021.
Balder currently owns and manages the rental apartment block Stjärnhusen in Västra Frölunda, which over the course of four new building projects will become Frölunda Park. There will be 550 new apartments along Lergöksgatan and Munspelsgatan built primarily in the areas where there are car parks today. The first project Sjöstjärnan is under completion and the first residents are expected to be able move in during 2019. Apartments in the second project Strandsnäckan have already gone on sale while the third and fourth projects are planned to be ready for occupation in 2021.
- Its feels fantastic to be able to create a new urban residential area in Gothenburg and it’s a challenge we take very seriously. We want everyone here to thrive both inside their apartments and also in the surrounding areas for decades to come. It is of the upmost importance that we listen to both the people that live here today as well as the new prospective residents. That’s why we have maintained a close dialog with the local council, residents and housing associations during the whole process, says Christian Nygård, project leader at Balder.
The project is a part of BoStad2021 and includes a new grocery store as well as refurbishment of park areas, the library and stops for public transport. For example, the outdoor recreational areas and courtyards will be improved greatly with new benches, gardens and playgrounds. The district will also be close to fast and easy transport into central Gothenburg and Frölunda Torg, and a short bike ride from Slottskogen, Botaniska Trädgården, Linnéstaden and even the sea. Bicycle and electric carpools, as well as an improved public transport service will help promote a simple and sustainable lifestyle.
Skanska are the building contractors and the Traffic Office is responsible for the renovation and maintenance of the roads.
