Global sustainability actor Position Green chooses Varvsstaden in Malmö for new office and powerhouse
Position Green helps companies and organisations to develop their sustainability work and business within the ESG landscape. To meet the increasing demand and offer a meeting place in line with the company’s vision, Position Green is relocating its Malmö office to the new sustainable Varvsstaden district.
Through a digital platform for all from collection to reporting of sustainability data, advisory and training services, Position Green helps companies and organisations to accelerate their sustainability transition. The company has grown rapidly and in line with the business sector’s ESG engagement. In spring 2023, Position Green will open the doors to its new “Sustainability Powerhouse” – an office and meeting place of approximately 1,100 sqm in the historic Magasinet shipyard building.
“When we started looking for a new office that can meet our rapid growth, Varvsstaden was our first choice. The future vision for the district attracts an entrepreneur-driven company such as Position Green and to have an office in a circular rebuilt industrial premises in a central location is well aligned with our business and what our employees are demanding,” says Daniel Gadd, CEO and founder of Position Green. “We are looking forward to building our Sustainability Powerhouse in Magasinet – a place where the collaboration between our digital platform, our employees and customers is in focus in order to create a sustainable business sector,” continues Gadd.
Malmö’s new district is being developed by Varvsstaden AB, a joint venture company which is co-owned by Fastighets AB Balder and Peab AB. Great importance is attached to sustainability and on preserving the area’s character and many of the buildings that are left since the Kockums period, are being renovated for a new life as offices, commercial space, restaurants or other types of activities. Magasinet was one of the first buildings to be completed and since then has accommodated a company that will soon move to larger premises in Varvsstaden. Magasinet is managed by the property company Balder.
“We are very proud to be a part of Varvsstaden and together with Peab contribute to Malmö’s urban development. In Varvsstaden, the shipbuilding heritage is allowed to live on in a new era, and here recycling and sustainability are in focus, both when we renovate properties and build new ones. I consider the fact that a business with such a clear sustainability character as Position Green is choosing to establish here, as an acknowledgement that we are doing the right thing,” says Jesper Kristensen, Regional Manager at Balder.
When the district is finished, the largest part of Varvsstaden’s roughly 180,000 sqm area, will consist of residential properties with various forms of tenure. In total, approximately 2,500 new apartments are planned. Three new connections over the water will link up the district with Malmö city centre and a new public transport route will run through the area. Varvsstaden is expected to be completely finished around 2035. Read more about Varvsstaden.
