Important step taken for Balder’s first apartments in “Framtidens Backaplan”
The vision for Framtidens Backaplan is ambitious and the urban development project is now taking the next big step – in January, the zoning plan for the western part of the area, Zoning plan 2 Backaplan, will go out for consultation. In this part of the area, the property company Balder is planning four residential blocks and an office property. The ambition is that the first apartments will be ready for occupation in 2025.
On Tuesday, 14 December, the building committee in Gothenburg decided to take the next step in the urban development project Framtidens Backaplan and allow zoning plan 2 go out for consultation. In this part of the major project at Hisingen, the property company Balder is planning to construct five blocks including housing and commercial premises east of Kvilleparken, very close to Hjalmar Brantingsplatsen.

In this first part of Framtidens Backaplan, Balder is planning approximately 1,000 apartments in mixed forms of tenure and sizes as well as 30,000 sq.m. of commercial floor space, divided among five blocks. The residential blocks will be built with a green courtyard, building bodies in varying heights and according to the environmental certification standard Miljöbyggnad Silver. The blocks will be developed in a number of phases, with the final construction start around the year 2030.
Apart from Balder, Skandia Fastigheter and the City of Gothenburg also have construction plans in this part of the urban development project.
