The collaboration negotiations regarding restructuring of Fazer’s operations in Karkkila factory have been concluded. The company has evaluated different options to streamline the operations of the online shop Fazer Store and has decided to outsource the operations.

Fazer is focusing on its fast-moving consumer goods and strengthening its position as the leading FMCG-brand in Finland while establishing a stronger position in Northern Europe and beyond.

Fazer Store, the online shop for consumers, was opened in 2018 as part of the implementation of Fazer’s consumer-centric strategy. Last year the selection of the store was expanded from confectionery to include also other Fazer’s long shelf life products, e.g. porridges and mueslis. The online shop serves consumers in the EU region and the coronavirus crisis has rapidly increased the demand for online store services.

Fazer has decided to harmonise the factory’s production to meet the overall market situation and to streamline the operative model by outsourcing the operations of the web store.

“The coronavirus crisis has rapidly increased the demand for online store services. We want to strengthen the preconditions for growing Fazer Store and to secure that growth, we need to find a partner that is specialised in logistic solutions, enabling us to focus on doing what we can do the best: delivering food experiences,” Nathalie Ahlström, Managing Director of Fazer Confectionery, says.

The collaborationnegotiations started on 11 May 2020 and concerned 23
employees. Before the negotiations begun, the employer estimated that the planned changes might lead to changes in work roles and termination of 8 job roles, at the most.

The collaboration negotiations led to the termination of 6 roles. Fazer will support those whose employment has been terminated and further their possibilities of re-employment. The employer will cooperate with the employment administration.
