Fazer entered into a three-year follow-up agreement with SOS Children’s Villages Finland for the period 2019–2021. As the main partner, Fazer continues to support the organisation's activities to create safe family environments for children and young people. Fazer has helped, for example, to build SOS children’s villages in Tampere and Vantaa.

Fazer has supported the work of SOS Children's Villages for over 40 years. Now this collaboration will continue with a three-year follow-up agreement for the period 2019–2021. The collaboration involves financial support, shared good times and social influencing.

The roots of Fazer's new brand promise – Northern Magic. Made Real. –  are in the company’s traditions and values, which can be seen in everything we do. “I’m very happy that our cooperation with SOS Children’s Villages, which has gone on for decades, will continue”, notes Ulrika Romantschuk, EVP, Communications & Branding. “This cooperation represents values that are important to us, such as genuine encounters between people and equal opportunities for all. Our operation is based on equality, acceptance of difference, and inclusion. We care for each other – both as individuals and as members of society.”

Cooperation with SOS Children’s Villages

SOS Children’s Villages promote the wellbeing of children and families in Finland and abroad. The organisation’s objective is that all children can grow in families that love and appreciate them and keep them safe. The organisation operates in more than 30 countries and helps children who are at risk of losing or have lost parental care.

“Fazer has a special place in the hearts of people at SOS Children's Villages, it's like we are all members of one big family! We are happy that our cooperation continues and evolves. Food is one of the basic pillars of wellbeing for children and young people, and shared meal times have long-lasting effects on children’s lives. In the work of SOS Children’s Villages, food has great significance as an instrument of care”, Communication and Fundraising Director for SOS Children's Villages Finland Leena Poutanen explains.

Fazer is a modern food company that acts responsibly. As a family company, it has always borne responsibility for the wellbeing of the local community. The family is an important asset in the process of an individual growing up to be a well-adjusted adult. Food in turn has an important role in building the wellbeing of families. Food nourishes and nurtures: healthy food and eating patterns improve children's wellbeing. “We could say that our mission Food with a purpose is realised in a very tangible way in our cooperation with SOS Children's Villages”, Ulrika Romantschuk says.

Fazer has helped, for example, to build children’s villages in Tampere and Vantaa and launch support family activities for children in Vantaa. “We also offer young people traineeships and summer jobs at Fazer”, Romantschuk explains. “Also, a cookery course planned for this year supports families’ life management skills and the independence of young people”.

The principles of the UN Global Compact guide all our operations, including our work to promote education, equality and diversity and to reduce poverty. “As a company, we want to do good for the world around us”, Ulrika Romantschuk explains. “Together we take care of society and people where ever we operate.”

Fazer supports the activities of SOS Children’s Villages in Finland, Russia and Sweden. In Finland, the funds are directed to the new kind of children’s villages in Niittykumpu, Espoo, and Kivistö, Vantaa. In the new villages, foster families live in a normal urban environment, but close to each other. Through Sweden, funds are allocated to Ecuador, an important cocoa producer for Fazer, and, in Russia, help is directed to children and young people in the St. Petersburg area.
