An exhibition on the Fazer Culinary Team is running at the Fazer Experience visitor centre in Vantaa until the end of the year. Fazer Culinary Team Finland and Fazer Culinary Team Sweden are currently practicing for the Culinary World Cup to be held in Luxembourg this November. In 2016, Fazer Culinary Team Finland won gold in the catering series of the Culinary Olympics.

The Fazer Culinary Teams from both Finland and Sweden are aiming for gold in the 2018 Culinary World Cup, which will be held in the Expogast exhibition centre in Luxembourg from 23 to 29 November. The exhibition in the Fazer Experience Visitor Centre has photographs, prizes and menus created by the team, as well as diplomas of team members.

Against food waste

The theme of this year’s Culinary World Cup is tackling food wastage. The task for each team in the catering section is to prepare a three-course meal in five hours for 150 people, for less than EUR 5 per person. The teams plan, organise and implement the three-course meal. The competition menu must include a soup, three warm meals, one of which is meat, one fish and one vegetarian, a salad buffet and a dessert.

“Responsibility is very important to us at Fazer, and this year’s theme is close to our heart”, says Fazer Food Services director of gastronomy and product development Marianne Nordblom. “In our day-to-day work, we strive to make the most of the ingredients we use and to minimise loss. We are looking forward to the teams being able to rise to the challenge of creating a responsible and delicious menu for the visitors and judges”.

The Culinary World Cup is held every four years, and is the world’s largest culinary competition. The Culinary Olympics have been organized since 1900, with teams from Asia, several European countries and the United States. The Fazer Culinary Team is the first-ever Finnish team to participate in the competition’s catering series. This year, a record number of teams will participate in the catering series.
