Fazer Experience had over 200,000 visitors in 2018
The Fazer Experience Visitor Centre has been open for just over two years, and it further strengthened its place as a unique place to visit in 2018. It grew in popularity, compared to the year before, and welcomed over 200,000 visitors last year. Nearly 100,000 visitors took the guided tour. Fazer Experience comprises an exhibition, a Fazer Café, a store, meeting services and different events. The year 2019 will feature both traditional seasons and new kinds of event concepts.
Fazer has welcomed visitors for over 60 years. Since the new centre was opened in autumn 2016, its popularity has continued to grow. In 2018, there were over 200,000 visitors; nearly 20,000 more than the year before. The biggest increase came from visits by tourists, companies, associations and individual visitors, be it for meetings, recreation or just a nice way to spend time together. School class visits to Fazer are a classic that is remembered for years. Interest among tourists is promoted by excellent visitor feedback to which testifies, for example, the fact that the centre been has awarded the Tripadvisor Certificate of Excellence for two years in a row already.
Anu Kokko, director of Fazer Experience, said: “Nearly 100,000 visitors took the guided tour. One fifth of the groups were international and, after Finnish-speaking tours, the biggest language groups were English and Chinese.”
Events offer great fun at Fazer Experience in 2019
The You 2.0 well-being event in the beginning of the year offered delicacies that are good for you, as well as addresses given by specialist. Valentine’s Day is the perfect moment to remember a good friend, and school ski holidays provide an opportunity to let your creativity loose with chocolate art. During the spring, the programme will include a Children’s Day and a market. The Easter event on Holy Saturday (20 April) has already become a tradition with the Easter bunny and egg-painting. A novelty for meeting guests is a chocolate meditation the length of a coffee break.
Find it first at the Fazer Experience shop
The Fazer Experience shops sells a wide range of products, with everything from presents to home party offerings, some of which are not available anywhere else. The shop often is the first to offer Fazer’s novelties – as an example, the pink Fazer Pure Ruby chocolate made from the world’s rarest chocolate was sold out in just two days. The product range varies with the seasons; the first Easter products will become available in late January – early February.
Fazer Café Fazerila – a great place to meet and relax
Both the shop and the Fazer Café in the visitor centre are open to everyone. At the Fazer Café Fazerila, you can indulge in a hearty breakfast any day of the week and enjoy wonderful speciality coffees, or piping-hot soup or a refreshing salad for lunch. The warm-hearted weekend brunches every Saturday and Sunday are so popular that for bigger groups, in particular, it is well worth making a table reservation. There are luscious local seasonal products as well, such as the Runeberg torte and Shrove bun. You can also buy artisan bread, cakes and pastries to take away.
Operation of Fazer Experience
Fazer Experience aims to provide inspiring and interactive experiences where everyone gets to know Fazer in their own way, make exciting discoveries and learn something new. Well-being and a balance of enjoyment are some of the main themes of the visitor centre. The visit is made even more memorable thanks to the centre’s original architecture. The building has been awarded many prizes: The Steel Structure of the Year award, the City of Vantaa Kehäkukka architectural prize and the Vuoden Lasirakenne award for the best glass structure. Since autumn 2018, the Fazer water tower is illumined by light installations after nightfall.
Fazer’s own guides introduce exhibition visitors to the centre on one-hour guided tours. The exhibition acquaints visitors with Fazer’s business, the company’s wide range of products, its long and distinguished history, its corporate responsibility and innovations. A stop-off on the guided tours that has become a firm favourite is the tropical garden, where the familiar flavours of cocoa, cinnamon and pepper can be seen in their natural state. In short, Fazer Experience caters for all the senses, and the unforgettable storytelling is helped along by imaginative use of the latest technology.
