Fazer Food & Co Oodi offers the best in Scandinavian food from morning till evening
The Helsinki central library, Oodi, is a new meeting place in Kansalaistori square right in the heart of Helsinki. Fazer’s restaurant Fazer Food & Co Oodi will serve visitors from morning to evening on the first and third floors of Oodi from 5 December 2018. The inspiration for the restaurant is ethically responsible, Scandinavian food culture. Visitors can savour heart-shaped cinnamon buns baked in-house, stop by for lunch, enjoy some sapas (Finnish tapas) or even enjoy a leisurely read with a glass of wine.
Fazer Food & Co Oodi is a cosy restaurant where you can take in the scenery of Töölönlahti Bay. The selections follow the rhythm of the day. You can enjoy breakfast in the restaurant or take it with you. For lunch, customers can choose from the large salad table or order a homely meal from the kitchen. Give your afternoon a lift with a coffee break for an extra infusion of energy and a little indulgence. The evenings are a perfect time for getting together with friends at Oodi for some Finnish tapas over a glass of wine. On weekends, we offer brunch.

We have restaurants throughout Finland, and it is great to be part of this iconic new building in the centre of Helsinki, where people of all ages and from all walks of life will cross paths. Oodi is an event venue, a haven for reading and a multi-faceted city experience, and we are delighted to be part of this experience and to be able to encourage these interactions through food”, says director, concession accounts Kristiina Ramirez from Fazer Food Services Finland.
Seasonal and ethical choices, and Finnishness
The inspiration for the restaurant services is Scandinavian food culture. As a rule, seasonal Finnish ingredients are used.
“We want people to have a great visit here and to be able to conveniently make choices that promote their well-being and are also ethical. For example, customers can buy reusable coffee mugs and monthly cards for regular visits. From 2019 on, we will be offering Brainhow snacks, which help to keep the mind sharp, as well as fully vegan catering for meetings”, Ramirez says.
The restaurant takes account of many types of library users and their different needs. The restaurant on the lobby floor serves all visitors to the building: visitors to the library, as well as users of the multi-purpose hall and cinema. The third floor is a more traditional library area with quiet spaces. The spacious upper floor services focus on coffees and teas, snacks, vegetable dips and snack bars.
“At the core of the Fazer Food & Co service brand are enjoyable experiences and an element of surprise. Its purpose is to inspire people throughout the day, whether they come to read and have an easygoing time, to have a bite to eat with friends, or just to grab a snack to give their day a boost”, says Ramirez.
Oodi tartlets and warm heart-shaped cinnamon buns
Oodi’s signature treats are Oodi tartlets and Oodi’s heart-shaped cinnamon buns, which can be divided and shared. The Oodi tartlet combines Finnish raspberries and redcurrants with ethically produced cocoa, cashew nuts and coconut. The tartlets are also suitable for vegans and those on a gluten-free diet. The heart-shaped Oodi warm cinnamon bun is a traditional Finnish bun with a cinnamon filling, and is large enough to be shared.
Among the other offerings are sea buckthorn shots, spruce tip panna cotta, beetroot raw porridge, oatmeal ciabatta with pulled oat filling, and ciabattas filled with beetroot and organic feta cheese.

Brunch from 29 December, Sapas (Finnish-style tapas) served from 7 January, “national coffee break” from 7 January 2019. In addition, a conference selection will be available from 2019.
