Fazer found out all-time favourite school meals
Free school meals turn 70 this year and, as part of its activities related to the anniversary, Fazer gave Finnish people the chance to vote for their all-time favourite school meal. Meatballs and mashed potatoes narrowly wedged its way to the top in the vote, followed by the perennially popular macaroni casserole and spinach pancakes. At the upcoming Tubecon event this weekend, the food quarter hosted by Fazer will give visitors a chance to taste and discuss school meals, and on 27–31 August, Fazer’s Amica school cafeterias across Finland will be serving school meals familiar from past decades.

A total of 2,899 respondents gave their vote in the survey concerning all-time favourite school meals on the Fazer.fi website between 21 May and 17 June. The respondents were given a chance to vote for six pre-selected choices, consisting of school meals known to be popular among today’s children. In addition, each respondent was given the chance to name a favourite of their own.
“School children like home-style, traditional Finnish food, such as fish and poultry dishes as well as meatballs, which have been on school menus since 1978. At Fazer, we will make sure that our restaurants keep on serving traditional and tasty home-style meals that people trust”, says Marianne Nordblom, Director of Gastronomy and Food Development at Fazer Food Services Finland.
Fazer to participate in Tubecon
Fazer’s food court is located at the very core of Tubecon. Throughout the day, it will guide participants to think about the food they eat every day by leading them through various activity points based on daily meal rhythms. Fazer Food Services operates in about 60 schools in Finland, and serves 34,000 schoolchildren daily. Fazer’s participation in Tubecon is part of Fazer Food Services’ activities celebrating 70 years of school meals, culminating in a theme week at its restaurants on 27–31 August.
