Fazer Group joins Climate Leadership Council
Fazer Group has joined the Climate Leadership Council (CLC), which challenges companies and society to act on climate change.
“Food has an important role when looking for solutions to global environmental challenges. We believe there is a lot to do in food production and in promoting sustainable eating habits. We are excited to join the Climate Leadership Council and to find new ways to cooperate”, says Christoph Vitzthum, President and CEO, Fazer Group.
Fazer’s most significant direct environmental impacts arise from energy and waste. These impacts can be minimised through good environmental management, research, product development and innovations. In Fazer’s restaurants, attention is paid to developing offering with environmental consideration, for example, through the More Greens initiative.
“The Climate Leadership Council provides a good platform, not only for finding ways to minimise negative impacts but also for exploring new opportunities through cooperation and dialogue”, says Christoph Vitzthum.
“I would like to warmly welcome Fazer to the Council. We feel Fazer completes our competence in the area of low-emission food chains,” says Henrik Ehrnrooth, Chairman of the Climate Leadership Council.
Climate Leadership Council
Climate Leadership Council (CLC) was founded in June 2014 and has now 31 member organisations. CLC is a body formed by leading Finnish companies and organisations which combats climate change by creating clean, environmentally sound solutions. The Council encourages everyone to move towards carbon-neutral operations and sustainable use of natural resources.
