Fazer plans changes in support functions in Finland to improve strategy execution

In the next few years, Fazer will create value and strengthen its position as a leading fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) brand in Finland while establishing a stronger position in Northern Europe and beyond. To improve strategy execution, Fazer needs to simplify the organisation and clarify roles in certain support functions within the Group. Therefore, Fazer will start collaboration negotiations in these functions.

Fazer is on the move as a more focused and integrated company after the sale of Fazer Food Services, completed in January 2020. The strategic and financial targets of the Group require continuous re-invention of ways of working. Measures need to be taken to drive agility and efficiency.  

The employer has evaluated different options and is planning to combine roles, reallocate responsibilities, reorganise reporting relationships and reduce any overlap in certain functions within the Group, namely in Group Management, Fazer Services and Fazer Bakery Finland. The aim is to improve overall efficiency and the customer experience throughout the organisation. Fazer further plans to focus support and capability development on strategically critical areas.

In addition, Fazer is planning a broader reorganisation of HR across the Group into country-specific and functional centres of excellence.

As a result, Fazer will start collaboration negotiations about the reorganisation of the concerned functions in Fazer Services, Fazer Bakery Finland and Group Functions. In total, 78 employees will fall within the scope of the negotiations. If executed, the plans may lead to changes in job tasks and the termination of a maximum of 13 employments.

If the negotiations should lead to redundancies, Fazer would support those whom the termination of employment would affect and further their chances of finding new employment by liaising with the local employment administrations.
