Do you have an idea that would impact the lives of a billion people? Would you like to develop your idea further? Fazer, together with other sponsors, invites young talents to apply to Finland’s Global Impact Challenge organized together with Singularity University. The Challenge winner will secure a place in the distinguished Global Solutions Program of Singularity University held in Silicon Valley this summer.

“Fazer’s renewal agenda is inspired by entrepreneurship and new technologies that can positively impact our society. One example of such activities is our innovation programme Brainfood. Through the Global Impact challenge, we support bright minds with impactful ideas and give them the opportunity to learn from the best experts in their field”, says Heli Arantola, SVP Strategy and Renewal, Fazer. After all, Fazer was also founded by a young talent with a great idea back in 1891 when Karl Fazer opened his first French-Russian café in Helsinki.

The Global Impact Challenge is an annual competition organized by Singularity University Alumni in different countries all over the world. The challenge winners participate in Singularity University’s 10-week Global Solutions Program at the NASA Ames Research Center in Silicon Valley. The program is a gateway to meet world’s top influencers and thought leaders and learn about exponential technologies. Shortlisted participants will also be invited to a tech bootcamp in Copenhagen in March 2017.

“The Global Solutions program was a truly inspiring and life-changing experience. I met amazing people with exciting life stories, studied new technologies and was even coached by a former CIA agent. During the program I realized that the world’s grand challenges can also be the world’s biggest business opportunities and there has never been a better time to be a start-up entrepreneur than now”, last year’s winner Perttu Pölönen describes his thoughts.

This year the Global Impact Challenge is especially looking for applicants with a great idea and the passion to develop it further with the help of exponential technologies and finally, launch a start-up that addresses grand challenges in the fields of e.g. health, education, water, energy and food.

Young talents with innovative ideas and a passion to impact the world positively by leveraging exciting new technologies are invited to apply at su.org/gic/2017/finland.
