On Tuesday 14 April, Fazer Shop-in-Shop bakery business opens an online store offering an opportunity to order handmade artisan bread and other bakery products with home delivery. In the pilot phase, orders are delivered in Helsinki and Vantaa and driven by Fazer bakers. All orders are paid online in advance, and the driver leaves the product bags outside the customer’s door.

“We serve customers in a normal way at all our 94 Shop-in-Shop bakeries across Finland and, in addition to this, we will now test consumers’ interest in an online store in the Helsinki metropolitan area. Our high-quality artisan bread is delivered fast and fresh as the deliveries go directly from our bakeries and they are driven by our own bakers,” says Marika Hagelberg, Head of Fazer Shop-in-Shop bakery business.

The Fazer Bakers online store is available at www.fazer.fi/leipurit. The assortment of the Fazer Bakers’ online store comprises the most popular products of the Fazer Shop-in-Shop bakeries and it includes artisan bread, pasties with rice filling and sweet bakery products. The online ordering system opens on Tuesday 14 April and the first deliveries will be made on Wednesday 15 April. Orders are delivered on all weekdays from Monday to Friday.

“Purchasing behaviour of the consumers is changing and I believe that online grocery shopping will increase significantly in the future. Due to the exceptional circumstances caused by the coronavirus epidemic, consumers go to stores more seldom than normally, and some people cannot do any grocery shopping as they are in quarantine. We want to offer people a possibility to enjoy freshly baked bread as often as possible despite the circumstances,” Hagelberg continues.

At the Fazer Shop-in-Shop bakeries artisan bread is baked by hand using domestic flour from Fazer Mill. The Fazer Shop-in-Shop bakeries can be recognized by the name Fazer Leipurit (Fazer Bakers) and they are located inside grocery stores as separate bakeries. The number of the Fazer Shop-in-Shop bakeries is currently 94 and they employ around 600 people.

During the coronavirus epidemic all Fazer Shop-in-Shop bakery products are sold packaged in order to help consumers to do their shopping fast and safely. Despite the exceptional circumstances, a wide and diverse variety of dozens of different types of artisan bread and sweet bakery products is baked at the Fazer Shop-in-Shop bakeries every day.
