Product withdrawal: Fazer Bakery withdraws several gluten-free products from the market

Fazer Bakery Finland is withdrawing the gluten-free products listed below from the market. According to the information received from the raw material supplier, Xanthan (E415) used in the products has been found to contain ethylene oxide more than the maximum limit set by the EU. Xanthan is a thickener which is used to substitute gluten in gluten-free baking.

The products should not be used, and Fazer instructs consumers to discard them. The concentration of ethylene oxide in the products is very low. Low concentrations of ethylene oxide is not known to cause any direct harm to health. However, in long term use ethylene oxide has been found harmful. The withdrawal does not concern any other Fazer Bakery products or any other sales units of the products. 

Instructions for getting a refund: 

Fazer will refund the withdrawn products. A purchase receipt of the product can be sent to Fazer's consumer service for a refund.
