The Nordic MICHELIN Stars are awarded today in Helsinki - Fazer is one of the main local partners in the MICHELIN Guide Ceremony cocktail dinner
The annual MICHELIN Guide Ceremonies are the world’s most famous culinary events, and the MICHELIN Stars are the most coveted and prized honors of the restaurant industry. The annual MICHELIN Guide Ceremony awarding the Nordic restaurants is held today in Helsinki, Finland. Like last year, Fazer is one of the Ceremony’s local partners. Fazer, the food experience company, collaborates with the City of Helsinki and is prominently present at the cocktail dinner of the MICHELIN Guide Ceremony.
Fazer’s Chef de Cuisine Tapio Bergström and Chef de Patisserie Piia Raunio will prepare plant-based tasting dishes for the event's guests, using domestic ingredients. The traditional Finnish blueberry pie will now feature oats and raspberries alongside rye and blueberries. The dish will be served with a handmade oat-vanilla sauce. Another tasting dish – Fazer’s Blueberry Shot with Oats – is inspired by a beloved Finnish drink, blueberry milk. It combines refreshing Fazer Aito Sunshine oat drink, rosemary-flavoured blueberry, and freshly ground cardamom.
"We want to showcase the pure ingredients and delicious flavours of the Finnish nature, taking inspiration from our traditions. Most of us remember “blueberry milk” from childhood – now, we’re making it even more delicious with the soft taste of oats. The raspberry-blueberry pie is a reinterpretation of “mustikkakukkonen”, but this version is entirely plant-based," Bergström describes the dishes.
"It is a great honour to participate in the MICHELIN Guide Ceremony. It’s an impressive event where you can truly sense the passion for gastronomy and attention to detail. In Finland, we have a rich food culture which combines traditional flavours and the pure ingredients of different seasons with fearless innovation. Now we have the opportunity to showcase Finnish cuisine to the world's top professionals in the culinary world," Bergström continues.
The annual Michelin Guide ceremonies are the most known culinary events worldwide, bringing together chefs running MICHELIN Starred restaurants as well as other professionals in the food and restaurant industry. Fazer was one of the event’s local partners also last year, when the Nordic MICHELIN Stars were awarded in Turku.
“The MICHELIN Guide is a highly respected player in the food industry. We are very proud to offer high-quality Finnish cuisine to the top professionals participating in the MICHELIN Guide's Ceremony for Nordic restaurants. Finland will also host a lot of international media, giving us an excellent opportunity to gain global visibility for Finnish food," says Anniina Niemistö, Director of Communications and Sustainability at Fazer Lifestyle Foods.
