Finnair leases capacity for New York route during extra maintenance break
Finnair leases capacity to temporarily replace one of its Airbus 330 aircraft, which is undergoing extra maintenance break. Spanish operator Privilege Style will operate between Helsinki and New York with Boeing 767 from 20th June until the end of the month. There are plans that the Polish airline LOT would operate the route with Boeing's 787 from 1st July until 16th July. Finnair Airbus 330 aircraft is expected to return to traffic after mid-July.
"One wide-body aircraft missing from our fleet affects our operations. Even in this situation, we want to serve our customers as well as possible and minimize the inconvenience. We will contact directly all the passengers whose travel is affected by the aircraft change. As this is a wet lease agreement, all crew members on the flights are from Privilege Style and LOT, but in the cabin there's one Finnair purser available," says Ville Iho, Finnair's Chief Operating Officer. "We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause to our customer."
