A runner with passion for helping vaccines get to the finishing line
No matter if she is assisting researchers in the development of life-saving vaccines, or helping young, talented Swedish athletes realize their championship dreams, Charlotte Schönbeck is powered by the belief that science is the key to the future – and she is in it for the long run.
“It’s not hard to find purpose when you can contribute to research that aims to prevent people from becoming very ill. At Getinge, I get to develop myself and my expertise within the company,” says Charlotte Schönbeck, Product Specialist Life Science at Getinge.
She joined the Getinge’s life science team as a product specialist in bioprocessing in 2021 – and her long-term ambitions are reinforced daily by working side by side with people that have been with the medtech company for decades.
“Some colleagues have worked here for more than 30 years, and they still have a strong passion for helping our customers save lives. It is very inspiring,” Charlotte says.
Outside of work, Charlotte is coaching young middle-distance talents, and she has been an excellent runner over 800 and 1500 meters herself. She won numerous Swedish Championships and participated in three European Championships. Parallel with the running, Charlotte also worked in a research lab with focus on molecular physiology.
“I'm passionate about meeting people because you learn something new every time. I love sharing experiences of challenges I have met before. Maybe I can help our customers to pass their obstacles or find a more efficient way to work in the lab,” Charlotte explains.
As a specialist on products used for finding and developing medicines and vaccines, she has found a new arena for chasing top results.
“I get to help different types of customers in the life science business to achieve the results they are aiming for, such as getting a product into a clinical phase. This is an important step towards bringing a treatment that can benefit millions of people to the finishing line,” she says.
Most recently, Charlotte is one of the employees fronting Getinge’s new purpose video.
“We exist to make life-saving technology accessible to more people. That is a very strong common purpose.”
