GPUTC expands open evening line up

The Greater Peterborough University Technical College (GPUTC) hosted its first open evening, and is adding another to its calendar as a result of growing demand.  Learners can join the UTC in year 10 and year 12.The next newly announced open evening will take place on the 9th of December 2014 from 6-8pm is open to learners wanting to join the UTC in year 10 and year 12 when it opens in Sept 2015. This will follow shortly on the heels of the event on Tuesday 11th November 2014 with all events taking place at University Centre Peterborough (UCP) on Peterborough’s Park Crescent campus. [

Lack of workplace skills in young people, say businesses

A survey* published by the British Chambers of Commerce (BCC) this month shows that 88% of businesses overwhelmingly feel that many young people are not adequately prepared for the workplace.More than 76% believe a lack of work experience is the reason young people are unprepared for work. The BCC’s Workforce Survey suggests that stronger links must be formed between educators and business, to better prepare young people for work. Greater Peterborough University Technical College appoints Trust Chairman

The University Technical College Academy Trust has appointed a permanent Trust Chairman, Phil Brown from Anglian Water. His experience in developing people and understanding the skills shortages in the region will be a key asset to underpinning the work of the UTC in Peterborough. Phil is Head of People Development at Anglian Water, and will take up the post of Trust Chairman at the new University Technical College from 1st January 2015 for a two year term of office.
