Hufvudstaden welcomes EY to Kvarteret Johanna
Global advisory and accountancy firm EY has selected Kvarteret Johanna for its new offices in Gothenburg. The premises will be approximately 2,300 square metres in size, and occupancy is planned for autumn 2026.
There is considerable interest in both office and retail space in the soon-to-be-completed Kvarteret Johanna, which totals 32,000 square metres. Occupancy is scheduled from 2026. Potential tenants are given the opportunity to get a feel for their future office space on site. A contract has now been signed with EY.
EY is a global consulting and auditing firm with more than 700 offices in 150 countries. EY is present in 43 locations in Sweden, and Gothenburg is one of its largest sites with approximately 320 employees. EY plans to move into Kvarteret Johanna in autumn 2026.
“We’re really looking forward to the move to Kvarteret Johanna. We want to create the best possible conditions for existing and future employees, and the premises meets our high requirements in terms of a modern and sustainable workplace. In addition to its fantastic location, the new offices will serve as a flexible workplace that will enable us to maintain our position as a leading employer,” says Linda Sallander, Office Manager and Partner at EY.
EY’s new offices will be on the fifth floor and amount to approximately 2,300 square metres. The company’s employees will enjoy contemporary premises in an historic environment in the best location, just a stone’s throw from major transport links.
“It’s fantastic to be able to welcome EY to their new premises in the remodelled and extended Kvarteret Johanna where they’ll have access to both the city centre and the local area’s extensive services, including a rooftop garden, gym and restaurants,” says Fredrik Ottosson, Director Business Area Gothenburg.

About Kvarteret Johanna
Kvarteret Johanna is one of Gothenburg’s most central locations, next to the city’s historic canals, and a stone’s throw from Brunnsparken and Gothenburg Central Station. The development is one of the largest projects in Gothenburg’s inner city and will play a key role in the overall development of Fredstan. The renovation and newbuild includes a total of some 32,000 square metres of premises intended for offices, shops, restaurants and more, and is expected to be ready for occupancy in 2026. The property retains its original expression with a number of different street-facing facades; while inside, all properties will have a consistent design. This creates a high degree of flexibility that gives clients the freedom to adapt office space to their needs. Companies will be able to select their own office space ranging from 150 square metres to 4,300 square metres on the same floor.
Hufvudstaden chose to name the property Johanna as a tribute to two Gothenburg institutions: the Johanna in Brunnsparken statue and legendary restaurant Johanna, which was previously located at the site on Brända tomten. The site is located in the Fredstan area at the heart of central Gothenburg.
The site will offer three service concepts that will add considerable value for office tenants. Stureplansgruppen will open a rooftop restaurant on Södra Hamngatan and Nordic Wellness is set to open a gym on street level on Drottninggatan. Hufvudstaden will also open its own co-working concept – Cecil – at the site. Cecil will offer its own office space and desks in shared areas and will have a large common conference area where it will also be possible for non-members to book meeting rooms.
