Hedin Bil sells 80 Mercedes-Benz trucks to C-R Johanssons Åkeri AB. A deal worth 200 million SEK over a three-year period.

Gothenburg, June 8, 2018

I.A. Hedin Bil AB has sold 80 Mercedes-Benz trucks to forwarding agent GDL’s subsidiary C-R Johanssons Åkeri in Varberg, Sweden. It is the biggest deal Hedin Bil has closed together with Mercedes-Benz in Sweden.

“I am very proud and happy of this fantastic business deal proves that Hedin Bil, besides passenger cars and transport vehicles, also is a serious contender to count on when it comes to heavy trucks. I believe we will notice a strong growth within this segment over the next couple of years”, says Anders Hedin, Owner and CEO of Anders Hedin Invest AB.

In the procurement, Hedin Bil and Mercedes-Benz ran against other big competitors, but the final selection fell on the trucks from Mercedes-Benz. One of the factors was the lower operating costs of the trucks from Mercedes-Benz versus the competitors. Thanks to a reference case where one of GDL’s other subsidiaries, Helsingborg Transport & Logitsik AB got 15 Mercedes-Benz trucks delivered from Hedin Bil during spring 2017, it was possible to thoroughly estimate and follow-up on the operating costs during a one-year period. The service intervals, fuel consumption and dependability of the trucks from Mercedes-Benz proved to be of good value for the forwarder.

Other factors that made the customer go with Hedin Bil’s proposal was its beneficial service agreement which gives total control and transparency of the costs for the customer, together with the flexible and unique deal Hedin Bil could offer.

“Thanks to Hedin Bil’s great presentation, hard work and flexibility along with the proven high quality and low operating costs of the Mercedes-Benz trucks we are very happy of this business deal”, says Henrik Holm, CEO of GDL.

Björn Janström, Brand Manager of Mercedes-Benz Trucks at Hedin Bil says “This has been a very complex deal, but thanks to innovative thinking and a good cooperation with the Key Account Manager department at Mercedes-Benz we were able to close our biggest deal ever. Now we look forward presenting similar deals to more customers and to increase Mercedes-Benz’s market shares in Sweden”.
