LANCASHIRE PEOPLE ARE IN 'POLL' POSITION!
The best thing about Lancashire is its people, according to a survey carried out by The Mall Blackburn to celebrate Lancashire Day.
More than 50 per cent of voters in the We Love Lancashire Facebook poll said Lancashire folk were what they loved most about the county while the weather polled the least number of votes!
In response to the question ‘What do you love most about Lancashire?’ local food and the countryside each won 15 per cent of the vote each, leisure activities 13 per cent, nightlife three per cent and the weather just one per cent.
The survey was carried out to celebrate Lancashire Day, which takes place on Tuesday 27th November. The annual celebration commemorates the day in 1295 when Lancashire sent its first representatives to Parliament to attend what later became known as The Model Parliament.
Loraine Jones, General Manager at The Mall Blackburn, said: “There are so many things to be proud of here in Lancashire and we wanted to find out what our shoppers loved most.
“It comes as no surprise that the people of Lancashire were voted as the best thing about the county - we certainly think we have the friendliest and warmest people living right here!
“Even as the Christmas shopping rush gathers pace people still have the time to smile and say hello. The county has so much to offer and it’s great to see that the countryside and our fantastic local food came in at joint second in the survey.
“Leisure activities came a close third and with so much to do from shopping here in The Mall to days out at the seaside and much more. The least favourite option was the weather which perhaps comes as no surprise!
“Lancashire Day is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate everything that is special about our county and I am certainly very proud to live and work in such a fantastic place!”
